What Is A Legacy Gift?
A legacy gift is a lasting statement of your generosity and care and an opportunity to help children in our community thrive and reach thier full potential. Making a legacy gift is a flexible way to combine philanthropy with financial planning. A legacy gift is your opportunity to continue your support of an organization or charity after you are gone. There are many different ways to leave a legacy through your estate, including:

These are just a few of the options you can explore when planning your estate.
What is a Gift of Securities?
Donating publicly traded stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities is a tax-smart way to support The Children’s Foundation without using cash on hand. When you donate your publicly traded securities directly to a charity, you eliminate the capital gains tax normally paid if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds.
Donating securities is easy! The simplest way to make your gift of securities is to have them electronically transferred from your brokerage account to The Children’s Foundation brokerage account. A form can be found at thechildrensfoundation.ca on the Ways To Donate page.
You will receive a receipt for income tax purposes for the full appreciated value of your donation of publicly traded stock or securities—similar to when you donate cash gifts.
You can donate securities immediately or as part of your estate and will planning.

Making Your Gift
Your gift will improve the lives of disadvantaged children in our community. You can leave a gift which will be applied to the area of greatest need, or you can specify that your gift go to a specific program such as Playing for Keeps, Camps of Hope, Strive to Thrive, Keep Baby Safe or Reach for Success. Information on each of these impactful programs can be found online at thechildrensfoundation.ca, or we can provide you with a package to review at your convenience.
